When you are on holiday at Duinrell, you are in the middle of National Park Hollandse Duinen. This is a unique area where estates, dunes, woodlands, picturesque villages and big cities alternate. In short: a diverse environment full of beautiful hiking routes. We have put together eight varied routes for the whole family. Have fun hiking!
Meijendel is an extensive water-rich dune and nature reserve around the corner from Duinrell. Actually, the dune area consists of many different mini-landscapes.
De Reeënroute in Meijendel takes you through high dunes, deep valleys and lush forests. From the viewpoint you can look out over the valleys to the sea and on a clear day you can even see Wassenaar.
You will also pass the big forest, the home of the deer.
Start point: Parking lot De Kieviet

The Eikenroute in Meijendel takes you along the bird-rich places of the area. Via narrow paths you walk through oak woods to the bird wall. Here you have a view of the infiltration lakes of Dunea. Right here, our drinking water is purified in a natural way.
Start point: The playing field at visitor centre De Tapuit

From visitor centre De Tapuit in Meijendel, you set off for the beach. On the way, you first walk through the dune garden and through the bird forest. Halfway along the route you will find the wet dune valley and the infiltration pools of Dunea. The walking route then continues to the beach. Here you have a view of the sea and, if you look closely, you can see the beach of Scheveningen.

Would you rather stay in the neighbourhood? Right here at Duinrell you will find a nice walking route for the whole family. Walk to the Rodelbaan and turn right into the Duinrell wood. From here, follow the yellow markings of the trim lane trail.
Fancy a sporting challenge? Then challenge each other with the fun exercises along the fitness trail.
Start point: The Duinrell forest on the right side of the Toboggan

In Wassenaar, you will find beautiful country estates and places of interest. Put on your walking shoes and be amazed on this beautiful Landgoederen walk. On the way, you will see centuries-old trees and green parks.
Start point: The trail starts bij “Huize de Paauw” (Raadhuislaan 22, 2242 CP Wassenaar) or “Het Koffiehuisje” (hoek Buurtweg 116, 2240 AA Wassenaar).

A walk that starts at Duinoord, near the beach entrance "Wassenaarse Slag". During the route, you will walk through pine forests and along a bird pond. Tip: bring your binoculars! The hiking route is signposted.
Start point: Hotel-Restaurant Duinoord
Length: 3,3 km

A brisk 3.5-hour walk that tells you the story of how the area around the Dutch dunes looked during the Second World War. The vegetation in this area is so diverse that it always looks different. Not much is left of the Atlantic Wall, but you will come across other special sights.

Did you know that Wassenaar is in the top three of the Dutch municipalities with the most country estates and country houses? Some of these can be found in the old village centre. During this walking route, you will walk past Huize de Paauw and other special estates.
Start point: The trail start at the Kerkhoflaan or “Huize De Paauw” (Raadhuislaan 22, 2242 CP Wassenaar). At Both places is a start panel.
